We’ve all seen it happen. A plate goes down in front of a kid and with one look, it’s over. They’re not eating it no matter what you say.
Time to experiment.
Try performing a little test and see if you can get them to trust what they taste, not what they see. During the test, the taster must keep his/her eyes closed—no peeking allowed!
Begin with foods they are familiar with: Goldfish crackers, popcorn, grapes, etc. As they move down the line, up the ante: kiwi, tofu, blue cheese, or anything you’ve had trouble getting them to try.
When it’s all over, award badges for different levels of bravery based on how many foods they have tried.
