How do you play?
This game is played with 2 teams of at least 4 players on each. The 2 teams stand on a field about 40 steps apart. The players on each team stand side-by-side holding hands as tight as they can. The first team calls out the name of someone on the other side by saying, “RED ROVER, RED ROVER, WE CALL [player’s name] RIGHT OVER.” That player then lets go of his or her teammates’ hands and runs as fast as he or she can to the other line of players and tries to break through their hands. If he or she breaks through, that player goes back to his or her place on the other side of the field. But if the other team is too strong and the player can’t break through their arms, he or she must now stay on that team and hold hands with them. Teams take turns calling players. The game continues until 1 team has just 2 players left on its side.
