Each day, identify two activities such as going to the market or returning books to the library. Challenge yourself to transform that activity into a mastery moment for your young child. For example, when going to the market, give your child a job such as pointing to the fruit that you name or counting all the yellow items you put in the basket. When you are cleaning up the play room, give your child a job like picking up anything that is square, or putting all the round toys in a pile. You will still do the bulk of the cleaning, but you will have provided your child the opportunity to contribute and develop her skills along the way.
